Baral elected Lumbini provincial chairman of the Maoist center

Sudarshan Baral Magar of Gulmi has been elected as the Lumbini State Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center.

The first state convention held in Bhalubang, Dang on December 9 and 10 had selected a 217-member committee. According to a Maoist center leader, the same committee has finalized the name of Sudarshan Baral of Gulmi for the post of Lumbini State Chairman.

On the proposal of Maoist leaders Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Barshaman Pun, Baral became the unanimous chairman. Dipendra Pun of Rolpa and Homeraj Sharma of Dang were also claiming for the post. However, Baral was unanimous as both were not included in the 217-member state committee.
Other office bearers of the provincial committee have not been decided yet. Baral is the former social development minister of Lumbini province. The UCPN (M) has decided for three vice chairpersons, one secretary, three joint secretaries and one treasurer in the provincial committee.

The UCPN-M had held a convention in Bhalubang of Dang on December 9 and 10. A leader of the Lumbini Provincial Committee of the UCPN (Maoist) said that 11 members from different clusters would be nominated in the 253-member committee.
