Announcement of CPN (Maoist) abandonment by Rokaya, entry of UML

Prakash Rokaya, the then Politburo member of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has announced his resignation from the party. At a press conference in the capital on Thursday, he announced that he had abandoned the Maoist Centre from today. He said that he had left the party saying that the policy adopted by the Maoist Centre could not work in the party.

Rokaya also said that he was preparing to return to the CPN (UML). Mentioning that final decisions are being held with the leaders to join the UML, Rokaya said, “I am now in the final discussions with the UML to save the communist movement. I am ready to fulfil that responsibility even if given by the UML.”

He said that the day has come for all the revolutionary and progressive parties to think seriously about the defence, development and welfare of the people and the communist movement.

He recalled that he had worked in the CPN (UML) for 23 years. But he left the UML in 2070 BS and joined the then Unified Maoist in 2071 BS.
