Gangtok, June 22 : In a major development for the State of Sikkim, the 1000 Litres Per Minute PSA Oxygen Plant at STNM Hospital, Sochyagang, was inaugurated today by the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
This can been seen as a major boost to the existing Health infrastructure created by the Government in the fight against Covid-19.
The Oxygen Plant has been allocated by the Government of India for STNM Hospital, Sochyagang under PMCARES. The civil work for the installation of the Plant commenced from 28th of May, 2021. The plant will now be fully functional and will be adequate to supply Oxygen to the entire Hospital.
The Oxygen Plants coming up at all the four District Hospitals, and the Government’s plan to install a 1000 LPM Bottling Plant at Rangpo from its own fund will ensure that the State Government will have enough supply of Medical Oxygen to deal with any health crisis.
It may be mentioned that the State Government in its early response to the second wave of Covid-19 had installed a 500 Lites Per Minute VSA Oxygen Plant at STNM Hospital. The 1000 LPM Plant inaugurated today will further supplement the Oxygen supply to the Hospital.
The programme had the presence of Minister Health, Dr. M.K. Sharma, Minister Tansport Sanjit Kharel, Additional CS Health K. Sreenivasulu, DG cum Secretary Health Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, MS STNM Dr. K.B. Gurung, Doctors and other concerned officials and dignitaries.(IPR)
