Collective actions vital to combat environmental crimes: Minister Thakuri

Janakpur, Sept 21:

Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has called for coordinated efforts among all the State bodies to combat forestry and environmental crimes.

Speaking at a ‘workshop on a judicial perspective in disputes regarding environment and forest conservations’ commenced on Janakpur on Friday, the Minister said the roles of the judiciary to citizens are vital to curb environmental offenses.

“The government aims to promote environmental justice and utilize this sector as a means of empowering citizens and the State financially,” he said, underlining the need to enable an investment-friendly atmosphere in this sector.

The two-day event is chaired by Supreme Court Judge Sapana Pradhan Malla and is being attended by Chief Attorney of the Madhesh Province, Surendra Kumar Mahato, Madhesh Province Minister for Forest and Environment Tribhuvan Shah, and representatives from the stakeholders concerned.
