Prime Minister KP Sharm Oli has proposed to bring Bamdev Gautam in the government by assigning him member of the National Assembly. Earlier, Gautam was proposed as the Nepal Communist Party vice chairman, however, the party Standing Committee has not endorsed this proposal yet.
At a time when comments are being made on reshuffle of the cabinet, Oli has planned to bring Gautam in the government with the status of the deputy prime minister, according to the Baluatar source.
Earlier, Oli had discussed with Pushpakamal Dahal, another co-chairman of the party, on nominating Gautam as the member of the national assembly.
After nomination in the national assembly, Gautam can become the DPM, however, as per the constitution, he cannot become the PM. Therefore, Gautam is asking to pave the way for him to become the PM even by amending the constitution.
Meanwhile, Oli and Madhav Nepal held one-on-one meeting for four hours at PM’s residence Baluatar on Wednesday.
It is believed that Oli is trying to please Madhav Nepal. This is the first meeting between Oli and Nepal after two and a half months.
Earlier, the two leaders were not in talking term, reports are appeared in different media.
