Five people have died and another four were injured after a bank’s office building collapsed Monday morning in northeast China’s Jilin Province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The building of a branch of the Baicheng Rural Commercial Bank, which was under renovation and had suspended operations, collapsed at about 6 a.m. Monday, trapping nine people.
Five people were confirmed dead as rescue efforts concluded around 3 p.m. Tuesday. The four injured people have been hospitalized and are in stable condition, authorities said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
