Kathmandu, 10 May: Closure of the Kathmandu roads and closure of the Tribhuvan International Airport has irritated general public during PM KP Sharma Oli’s departure to Vietnam and Cambodia on Wednesday, dailies published today from Kathmandu have reported.
It is reported that hundreds of passengers on board in aircrafts to and from Kathmandu, including several international flights were on hold in the sky for about half an hour, which had hit other flight schedule of Wednesday afternoon.
The Annapurna Post daily, with reference to an official in the Foreign Ministry, has reported that as the PM was using the VVIP lounge, there is no need to declare “NOTAM” for other aircrafts approaching and departing to and from TIA.
Meanwhile, today’s Kntipur daily reports that the PM’s flight was delayed due to an emergency landing of the Druk Air aircraft.
When light spark was witnessed in the cockpit of the aircraft bound to Thimphu from Kathmandu, the pilot demanded permission for an emergency landing at TIA. TIA’s general manager informed that the runway was cleared for the Druk Air aircraft earlier to the VIP flight, which caused 22 minutes delay on the PM’s flight.
The Druk Air aircraft, carrying 42 passengers on board, landed safely. After take-off from Kathmandu, the aircraft had reported technical problem in the cockpit and was returned to Kathmandu.
