PM lays emphasis on implementation of laws

Kathmandu, Aug. 17:

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that social awareness and promotion of moral values should be promoted for the implementation of constitution and laws.

At a programme organized by Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs at the Ministry on Saturday, the PM said that the agencies involved in investigation, prosecution and justice delivery should be made fair and responsible.

Stating that the country made significant achievements in the area of justice delivery, PM Oli argued that Nepal is ahead in South Asia in law-making step.

“We want to develop and run the Nepali society as a judicious society. The statute and laws are made as per the conscience and cultures of the society,” the PM said.

PM Oli added that society should have a civic consciousness to accept the constitution and laws as an ideal document otherwise it creates disorder in the society.

Likewise, Oli pledged to make efforts on behalf of the government for the implementation of the laws.
Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya also attended the programme.

On the occasion, PM Oli said that the government had difficulties to take a decision to adjust the salary of the civil servants by aligning with the order of precedence as per the Supreme Court verdict since it creates the state’s liability.

In the context of a 24 percent reduction in revenue collection and the passage of the budget from the parliament, a situation was created to ask the court again from the government to explore the solution measures on the implementation of the verdict, the PM said.
