NC issues whip to its MPs to vote against trust motion

Kathmandu, July 11:

The Nepali Congress is to vote against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s proposal seeking a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on July 12.

PM Dahal is seeking a vote of confidence for his government from the lower house of the Federal Parliament in the House meeting at 11.00 am tomorrow.

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak issued the whip to the party’s lawmakers to vote against the Prime Minister’s motion of vote of confidence.

Chief Whip Lekhak has also issued whip to the NC lawmakers to mandatorily be present in the HoR meeting, take part and not to remain neutral in the voting on the motion, the NC Parliamentary Office stated.

Prime Minister Dahal, who is also the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), is seeking a vote of confidence for the fifth time in the House of Representatives in 18 months.

Lately, he is taking a vote of confidence in accordance with Article 100 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal after the CPN (UML) pulled out of the government.

The largest party in the HoR, the Nepali Congress, and the second largest the CPN (UML) on July 1 forged an agreement and decided to form a new government with these parties leading the government turn by turn.
