Opposition parties try to stop act criminalising loan sharking: PM

Kathmandu, July 5 :

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has accused opposition parties of trying to stop the action against loan sharks by obstructing the House of Representatives session.

They obstructed the HoR session being ‘panicked by the ‘commendable works’ done by the government, he claimed while addressing a gathering of young women associated with the CPN (Maoist Centre) here today. He is also chairperson of the Maoist Centre.

“Efforts are on to obstruct the parliament by twisting a statement I delivered during a book launch. In fact, what I said has different meaning. The act relating to loan sharking is scheduled to be passed from today’s HoR meeting. Some people do not like action against loan sharks, and corrupt people. Parliament meeting is being obstructed to stop it.”

The government has launched a campaign against corruption, and they would win the race for good governance, he maintained.

He also directed young people to favour the causes for good governance, social justice and prosperity.

Maintaining that his recent visit to India was fruitful, he said Nepal could get much benefit from the agreements struck with India during the visit.
