Kathmandu, Sept 21 :
General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Dev Gurung has stressed the need for developing and cultivating the relations among Nepal, India and China while focusing on geopolitical sensitivity.
Mutual relation among the three countries was a need for peace, stability and development in the Asian region, he said at an interaction with the theme of Chinese Development and Regional Cooperation in the Changing Context’ organised here today jointly by the Samunnati Foundation and Nepal-China Friendship Forum. “There is a need for cooperation and collaboration among the three countries while understanding geo-political sensitivity. Principles of Panchsheel, and non-alignment policy should be adopted,” he said, adding that the three countries should come together while keeping in view security sensitivities among them.
Likewise, presenting a working paper on the theme of ‘The Discourse of Debt Trap in Nepal’, former Ambassador of Nepal to China, Leela Mani Paudyal, ruled out the signing of any agreement with any foreign country to the extent that the country would fall in debt trap.
Former Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri presented a working paper with the theme of ‘Investment Opportunities in South Asia’. Also, all should be aware about the impacts of global change on various economic and social variables of Nepal, said the Foundation Chair and former minister Rekha Sharma.
