Y-20 aircraft can fly to anywhere at any time when needed: PLA Air Force spokesperson

Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force’s Y-20 cargo planes can fly to anywhere at any time when needed, Senior Colonel Shen Jinke, a spokesperson for the PLA Air Force, answered in response to a question from the Global Times on Y-20’s track during the PLA Air Force’s open day event in Changchun, Northeast China’s Jilin Province on Saturday.

During the opening ceremony of the event on Friday, many of the PLA’s “20 series” aircraft were on display, and the Y-20 large transport aircrafts staged a flight demonstration.

Senior Colonel Li Chengmin introduced the training program for Y-20s, pointing out that after entering service six years ago, the Y-20 has performed both day and night missions, plateau or plains, land or sea. It has performed various and multiple missions and has never failed its country or people.

In responding to a question on which seas the Y-20 had conducted missions in, Senior Colonel Li said that Y-20 planes have performed several overseas missions and has been part of maritime combat drills.

Senior Colonel Shen Jinke said that Y-20 transport aircrafts have flown in Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania. “In China’s territory, wherever and whenever needed, Y-20 can fly there,” the senior colonel said.

On Friday, Senior Colonel Shen told a press conference that J-20 fighter jets had flown across the East China Sea, South China Sea and in the Taiwan Straits, highlighting the PLA Air Force’s strength.
