ISLAMABAD, August 28 :
Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said very high and above-level flooding is likely to continue in River Kabul in Nowshera district of Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province during the next 24 hours.
River Indus at Kalabagh and Chashma areas in the country’s eastern Punjab province is also likely to have high to very high flood levels during the next 24 to 48 hours, the NDMA said in its advisory report on Saturday evening.
The NDMA advised the concerned authorities to maintain an enhanced alert level and monitor the developing situations to reduce response time.
It suggested the authorities to inform the people living along the banks of rivers and in the vicinity of rain and sewage water drains about the expected increase in water flows.
The total death toll in Pakistan due to this season’s monsoon rains since mid-June has risen to 982 along with 1,456 others injured, the NDMA said on Friday.
