Communications Minister Karki directs line agencies for effective service delivery 

Kathmandu, July 31:

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has directed the officials and line agencies of the Ministry to work in a way there will be no comments from the public.
Speaking at the annual progress review of the Ministry on Sunday, Minister Karki asked the officials to ensure service delivery by boosting the ministry’s morale. The government has planned to make telephone and internet services accessible and reliable, Karki said, adding that the Ministry was working to bring long-term positive impacts in the field of information, communications and technology. Implementation of the plans will result in Ministry’s good image, according to the Ministry.
Likewise, he urged the officials to work responsibly by maintaining transparency and accountability in their performance.
On the occasion, Minister Karki said the Ministry fully implemented 67 milestones out of 122 targets in the last fiscal year and 42 others could not succeed as expected while remaining 32 did not kick start.
He also hinted at resolving the challenges through policy-level moves if the Ministry’s progress were stalled.
Likewise, Minister Karki stressed the need for being more economic and also pledged to make the postal services timely and relevant.
Also speaking at the programme, Member of the National Planning Commission, Saloni Pradhan Singh, said the media sector should incorporate the agendas of gender equality.
Similarly, Ministry Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal asked the officials and stakeholders to make periodic plans as to complete the expected target in the given quarter.
Chairperson of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Dharmendra Jha, said the RSS is working for the archiving all news and is slated to complete it in the stipulated timeframe.
