Jhapa, July 24:
Three girls have been found hanging in a tree at Kachanakawal Rural Municipality in the bordering Jhapa district today. The incident site is inside a tea garden at Pathamari in the rural municipality-5.
The deceased have been identified as local Anjali Ganesh, 17, Karina Ganesh, 16, and Kalpana Ganesh, 16. The incident might have been a mass suicide, according to police preliminary investigations.
The deceased, who worked at the tea garden named Sunkoshi Tea Garden, had gone missing since Saturday noon, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Basanta Pathak, spokesperson for the district police office. Local people reported the incident to police shortly after seeing the girls hanging from the tree. A police team had been deployed at the incident site and investigations were underway, said DSP Pathak.
