Students protested in Baluwatar demanding the Governor’s resignation

Students close to the ruling party have protested in Baluwatar demanding the resignation of Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari.

The police intervened during a demonstration by the Nepal Student Union and ANNISU (Revolutionary) in Baluwatar to prevent the governor from entering the office. The police have even detained some protesters for entering the prohibited area and being procession.

They protested saying that the Governor officer is affiliated with a political party. Alleging that M. Adhikari, who is in the finance department of UML, is Governor Maha Prasad, the students have demanded his dismissal.

Pancha Singh, chairman of ANNISU (Revolutionary), accused the UML appointed its leader with trickery to the post of Governor contrary to the constitution. She said that they had to protest because the officer was illegally occupying the Governor’s post.

With the public that Governor Adhikari is a member of the Finance and Planning Department of CPN-UML, the appointment of the official is being debated from all sides.
