Bam Dev Gautam, a member of the National Assembly, has stated that it is disappointing that the positions of Deputy Speaker and Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly have remained empty for so long.
In a National Assembly meeting on Tuesday, Gautam stated that it was disappointing that the government had not given the appointment of the Deputy Speaker and Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly any attention. He claimed that the constitution’s provision for a female vice president and deputy speaker was what caused the election delay. He recommended that if a man was required, the appointment would be made within five days but due to the provision of having a woman deputy speaker, the election has been delayed.
Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Speaker of the National Assembly, was alerted by Gautam to take the initiative for the position of Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly.
