‘Nepal Police and Provincial Police Amendment Bill, 2079’ has been passed

The ‘Nepal Police and Provincial Police Amendment Bill, 2079’ has been passed by the House of Representatives in coordination with the Kathmandu Valley Security Provincial Police.

In the House of Representatives meeting held on Monday, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan submitted a proposal to pass the bill.

Earlier, participating in the discussion on the bill, the lawmakers stressed on the need to strengthen cooperation and coexistence for the implementation of federalism.

Replying to a question raised by the lawmakers, Home Minister Khand said that the Nepal Police and the State Police are organizations that play a role in peace, security, and good governance.

Stating that the bill does not seek to weaken the provincial police, he said that the government is aware of the security challenges that may arise due to internal and external factors.

He said that the Nepal Police has been given the responsibility of keeping in mind the possible security challenges in the Kathmandu Valley, the federal capital of Nepal.

He also mentioned that it is positive that Nepal Police can go for pension in 16 and 18 years and necessary study is being done for that.
