The government has started simultaneous market monitoring across the country.
The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer told a press conference in Kathmandu on 1st July Friday that the monitoring was carried out simultaneously through all 77 district administration offices at the central, province, and local levels.
During the monitoring, the action was taken against 71 companies in different parts of the country, said Director General of the Department Lila Prasad Sharma.
Out of which, action has been taken against 9 firms during the monitoring of 25 firms conducted by the department.
Similarly, 20 firms have been monitored in State 1, while during the monitoring of 13 firms in Madhesh Province, action has been taken against 11 of them, according to the department.
Similarly, other places have also been effectively monitored, Sharma said. He said that the department has requested the Ministry of Supply to study the issue of rising sugar prices in the market. He also informed that a research team has been formed to investigate the issue of salt of other companies in the market and a sample of salt has been sent for testing.
Similarly, the department has stated that it will continue the monitoring work through 77 district administrations and the local level.
