Kathmandu, June 23

Starting on July 17, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will take action against the non-segregated waste. On Thursday, the city published a warning advising residents to dispose of both decaying and non-rotting garbage at home. Every time garbage that is both rotting and non-rotting is kept in the same location, the metropolis has declared that a fine of Rs. 500 will be applied.

It is noted in the metropolis information that vehicles will be sent to collect the decomposing and non-decomposable garbage on different days since it is the producer’s job to separate the two types of garbage. In addition, the city has made it clear that it will not pick up trash if it is not discharged, including both rotting and non-rotting garbage.

It is stated in the notice in accordance with Sections 6 (1) and (2) of the Waste Management Act of 2068 BS and Sections 22 (1) and (2) of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Environment and Natural Resources Conservation Act of 2077 BS.
