Kathmandu, June 17
Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, Prabhuram Sharma, has said clearly that his country would not join any military alliance. On Friday, he made the statements when speaking to the House of Representatives’ International Relations Committee.
He agreed that the letter was submitted to the US with the Government of Nepal’s and Ministry of Defense’s agreement, but claimed that it was not written for a military alliance. ”The letter written by the Nepal Army is true,” he claimed. The letter is entirely accurate. He said, however, that the letter included no mention of a military partnership.
He also opposed the idea of a military alliance.
