Women’s sailing training has started for the first time

Kathmandu, June 16

For the first time in Nepal, the Nepal Tourism Board has started women’s sailing training. On Wednesday, the Board began a 15-day River Guide Training at Sunkoshi in Balefi village of Sindhupalchowk as part of the Sustainable Tourism Project for Livelihood Rehabilitation, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) would give free river guide training to women when it starts for the first time. Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board, said the program, which was arranged for women for the first time in Nepal, was intended to be a cornerstone in the development of water tourism manpower.

For the first time in Nepal’s history, a free river guide was supplied to women, and employment was guaranteed for women, according to Shiva Adhikari, head of the Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA). He also asked the residents to maintain a clean and safe river.

The training was organized with the key goal of enhancing the appeal of young and making
women self-reliant, according to Narayan Shrestha, General Secretary of NARA.

According to Shishir Khanal, vice-chairperson of NARA, 53 women will take part in the program, which will last until June 29.
