Kathmandu, June 9
The Nepal Communications Authority has asked that no telecommunication services be
provided without a license.
According to Article 21 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS, no one can run a telecommunication service without a license, hence NEA has submitted a notification seeking authorization to operate the service only after acquiring permission.
If any ISP or internet service provider firm is found offering telecommunication services without permission, legal action would be taken, according to Achutananda Mishra, assistant spokesperson for the Telecommunications Authority.
”As per Article 21 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS,” he continued, ”we have requested any ISP or internet service provider firm not to conduct telecommunication services without a license.” If you are proven guilty, you will face legal consequences.
He said that the NEA had received information in the previous several days that the internet service was being run illegally using satellite technology.
He promised that individuals discovered running telecommunication services without
authorization will face consequences, and he asked the NEA to report anyone found unlawfully operating or distributing internet service without a license.
