Kathmandu, June 7
The attack in Nigeria has been condemned by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He
further asked that those responsible for the terrible crime be punished.
In an attack on a Catholic church in southern Nigeria on Sunday, gunmen killed at least 21
people, including children. According to local officials, the violence has generated significant
worldwide outrage.
According to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, such acts of violence are crimes against humanity, and no one should repeat them in the future. The bomber detonated his device just after noon in front of a crowd gathered at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Nigeria’s southern metropolis.
The group has repeatedly targeted people, according to government officials. There has been no claim of responsibility for the incident. A tiny explosion was heard inside the church, according to witnesses, before an armed gang opened fire on the crowd.
