Home Minister’s explanation in Bardiya incident: There is no order to shoot

Kathmandu, June 7

According to Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, no order has been given to shoot fire at the
protestors. He stated that it is the state’s obligation to preserve residents’ lives and that action will be done against those responsible for the tragedy in Bardiya.

After villagers were injured in a tiger attack, police opened fire on a local in the Orali Bazaar area of Madhuban Municipality-2 in Bardiya, killing Nabina Tharu and injuring four others.

”There is no order to shoot at such obstructions of civilians,” Home Minister Khand stated in response to an inquiry from legislators regarding the event. We’re advised to explain things as simple as possible and to use the least amount of power possible. The CDO further stated that the order had not been issued. However, a young woman was killed in a shooting.”

He stated that a five-member team has been created to investigate the event under the
supervision of Home Ministry Joint Secretary Hari Ghimire. ”I would want to express my determination to take measures against those who have committed mistakes,” Home Minister Khand stated earlier.
