Kathmandu, June 7
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started a toll-free call center to help address
concerns of the residents of the capital city. An arrangement has been made where anyone can make a call on telephone number- 16600105511– free of cost if he/she has any complaints or queries with the KMC and its services.
The first executive meeting of people’s representatives of KMC after their election held on May 30 had decided to operate a call center within seven days. The call center was brought into operation at the City Hall from Monday as per the decision.
Nam Raj Dhakal, Chief of the Information Technology Department of the Call Center, said that the center has the capacity to receive 15 telephone calls at a time.
Inaugurating the Call Center, KMC Mayor Balendra Shah said that a system was developed to hear complaints of citizens in order to establish the metropolis as a responsible local-level government.
The operators at the Call Center fill in basic details including telephone, time, complaints, and queries in the software while talking with service seekers. The operators also fill in the details of officers related to complaints and queries. The system automatically sends SMS and email to the authorized person.
Dhakal shared that the system will now be operational only during office hours.
