Birendra Narayan Shrestha elected president of the Film Association

Kathmandu, June 5

The president of the Nepal Film Association, an umbrella group representing distributors, has been elected: Birendra Narayan Shrestha. On Saturday, the association’s 47th annual general assembly in the capital elected Shrestha as its new chairman.

Shrestha, who also owns a theater, a biscuit factory, and a paper mill in Parasi, will serve as the association’s president for the next three years.

After being elected, Shrestha told news channel that his job is to bring together film-related groups and try to help the halls impacted by the Covid outbreak.

The chosen chairman, according to the association’s constitution, will nominate additional posts, including the executive himself. Chairman Shrestha is planning to fill additional positions on Monday. He wants to select Narendra Maharjan as secretary-general, according to sources.

In Nepal, there are around 130 movie theaters.
