Kathmandu, June 3
Nepal plays against Qatar in the Women’s Under-19 World Cup qualifiers today (Friday).
The Nepalese side, which arrived in Malaysia with 14 players, is hoping to get off to a good start in the championship. The tournament’s top team will compete in the World Cup in South Africa next year.
Nepal’s captain, Kritika Marasini, has been in closed training for the past month and expressed confidence that her country will advance to the next round of World Cup qualifying. Six countries, including Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand, Bhutan, and Qatar, are competing alongside Nepal.
Despite the fact that other teams appear to be weaker than Nepal, Nepal will face serious
resistance from Thailand. The Nepali team’s recent performance against Thailand has been disappointing. Nepal will play UAE on Saturday, Bhutan on Monday, Thailand on Tuesday, and Malaysia on Thursday in the remaining matches.
Team Nepal: Kritika Marasini (Captain), Sneha Mahara, Shrishti Jaisi, Manisha Upadhyaya, Anjali Bk, Manisha Ranamagar, Alisha Yadav, Sana Pravin, Ranju Shrestha, Asma Pulamimagar, Sanu Rajbanshi, Kiran Kunwar, Anu Kadayat, and Susmita Bhusal.
