France and Germany are pressuring Putin to meet with Zelensky face to face

Kathmandu, May 29

French and German leaders have asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for straight and serious discussions.

During an 80-minute phone chat with President Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Solz made the proposal. The two sides demanded a rapid ceasefire and the departure of Russian soldiers, according to the German Chancellor’s Office.

Putin indicated Moscow was ready to begin negotiations with Kyiv, according to the Kremlin.

The office, on the other hand, made no mention of direct conversations between Putin and
Zelensky. The Ukrainian president has already stated that he was not looking forward to the discussions.
