Kathmandu, May 25
Sunita Dangol of the CPN-UML has been elected Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan
City. Sunita was elected deputy mayor without a vote being counted.
Dangol received 60,675 votes for deputy mayor after the counting of 1,66,313 ballots in
Kathmandu Metropolitan City was concluded. Rameshwar Shrestha of the CPN-U, his closest rival, received just 20,686 votes.
Sunita now leads by 39 thousand 989 votes with 24 thousand 778 votes yet to be counted.
Balendra Sah, an independent candidate, is also on the edge of winning. With 54,213 votes, Sah maintained a large lead. With 34,180 votes, he is followed by Congress candidate Sirjana Singh, while UML candidate Keshav is third with 33,609 votes.
