Kathmandu, May 22
During the swearing-in ceremony held in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis, several people’s
representatives accused them of insulting people.
The people’s representative claims that the 23 ward chairpersons and other elected officials
were sworn in without taking the oath of office since the reception and swearing-in ceremony for Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis was not finished.
Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 6 Samir Pratap Singh remarked that the swearing in event
insulted the people’s representatives of several parties, including the UML, because no banner was displayed in the program and the people’s representatives were disregarded.
Ward chairman of sub-metropolitan ward no. 1 Pramod Rijal and ward chairperson of ward no. 18 Deepak Verma joined him in accusing the swearing-in ceremony of being unfair.
Prashant Bisht, the newly elected Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis, and Deputy Mayor
Kamaruddin Rai were sworn in at the occasion. Banke Chief Election Officer Khadananda Tiwari delivered the oath of office to Mayor Bisht.
The freshly elected people’s representatives, including Deputy Mayor Kamaruddin Rai, were then sworn in by Mayor Bista.
