Today is volleyball day

Kathmandu, May 22

On May 22, 2017, the then-government of Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) approved
volleyball as a national sport. Volleyball became successful in other disciplines after then, due to a respect for the game’s geography and spirit.

As a result, the Nepal Volleyball Association has declared May 22 as Volleyball Day every year.

The official program is yet to be released by the Nepal Volleyball Association.

The Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center has announced that on Sunday, several activities,
including friendly games, would be held in Jawalakhel. Volleyball has just lately become a
popular sport in the domestic sport.

Volleyball has been recognized as a national sport by the government and is included in the
national sports law. Volleyball is also offered at the New Diamond Academy.
