Zeya met the Dalai Lama’s representative on the initiative of PM’s wife Arju

The US Under Secretary of State arrived in Kathmandu yesterday for a three-day visit to Nepal. Members of the Dalai Lama’s exiled Tibetan religious leader, Ratsa Sonam Norbu, and CTA officials were present at Kamal Kunj, the US ambassador’s residence in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

Dalai Lama MPs, TYC officials and the Dalai Lama’s ambassador to Nepal were also invited to the event, which was hosted by Uzra Zeya, the US Under Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights and US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Affairs.

The US Under Secretary of State Zeya was accompanied by USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Anjali Kaur, Information and Communication Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, former Speaker Onsari Gharti, Prime Minister’s wife Dr. Arju Rana, exiled Tibetan MP and leaders Ratsa Sonam Norbu and Serta Tasi Dhondup were present on the occasion.

The US Under Secretary of State Zeya had a special meeting with them in front of US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry till 8.30 pm.

After that, in the presence of Nepali Congress leader and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s wife Arju Rana, the third gender Bhumika Shrestha and acid victim Muskan Khatun were honored at a separate function at the embassy in Maharajgunj.

Without even informing the Nepal government, Zeya is meeting the refugees in Nepal. Although she was scheduled to arrive at the refugee camp at 11 a.m. on Saturday, she arrived at about 1 p.m due to meeting with various countries’s ambassadors. Before leaving for the refugee camp, discussions were held with the ambassadors of Britain, France, Australia, Switzerland and other countries. It is unknown until now that she had met any Nepalese leaders formally.
