Ballot box robbers arrested

Kathmandu, May 20

The individuals who looted ballot boxes from a polling station in Rautahat and ran have been arrested by police. Rautahat, Chandeshwor, 46, of Yamunamai Gaonpalika Ward No. 2 is sitting, according to the District Police Office.

On the day of the local level election on May 13, ballot boxes were stolen from the polling
station at Shree Mavi Bhediyahi School in Yamunamai Gaonpalika Ward No. 2. After the polls were postponed, a gang of persons broke into the polling place and stole the ballot boxes that were visible to security guards.

Chandeshwar, according to police, is the key suspect in the incident. The culprit was arrested while hiding in the house. The Rautahat District Court has extended the inquiry period under the Election (Fault and Punishment) Act, 2073 BS.
