Kathmandu, May 18
The counting of votes in Tilottama, Rupandehi, has yet to begin after being postponed since
Tuesday morning. When the counting personnel-maintained records after the counting, it made headlines.
Due to disagreements between the two sides, Election Officer Madhav Lohani claimed the
counting of votes could not start. The Nepali Congress (NC) disputed the CPN-record UMLs of 114 out of 141 and 296 out of 259 votes as the votes were being counted in Ward 16.
The UML has refused to agree to a recount after non-UML parties held a news conference on Tuesday afternoon demanding the removal of the counting staff and the arranging of
recounting the votes after analyzing the ballot papers. However, coalition parties have
demanded that ballots in wards 2 and 16 be recounted. The meeting could not take place,
according to Election Officer Madhav Prasad Lohani, since both parties refused to sit in the
same room.
