After the residences of the current Prime Minister and other parliamentarians were set on fire, a curfew was imposed in Sri Lanka

Kathmandu, May 11

The Sri Lankan government has imposed a nationwide curfew as the country’s continuing protests increase. As anti-government protests grow, officials in Sri Lanka say a national curfew has been enforced from Monday night until Tuesday.

An angry crowd set fire to the residences of Mahinda Rajapaksa and many MPs who support
him, prompting a curfew in Sri Lanka.

On Friday, a crowd attacked a rally, forcing hundreds of protesters to escape via truck.
After demonstrations developed over the government’s failure to manage Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s brother and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned as prime minister on Monday.

The protesters, however, have not shown restraint even after his resignation. Protesters
attempted to enter Rajapaksa’s residence while he was inside. Since Monday, at least seven people have died and 190 have been injured in Sri Lankan protests.
