If you have more than 10 lots of shares, you cannot sell them in 'Odd Lot’

Kathmandu, May 9

The selling of shares in Odd Lot has been prohibited by the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). On Monday, Nepse issued such directions while providing information to brokers and stakeholders.

According to Nepse, the order was issued when it was discovered that securities holders with more than 10 lots of shares were also conducting business by creating an Odd Lot, in violation of the Securities Trading Operations Regulation 2075.

Securities of less than the trading unit will be Odd Loted under the Securities Trading
Operations Regulations 2075, and trading of such securities will be called Odd Lot transactions, according to Nepse.

Brokers were also reminded by Nepse to only trade in accordance with the legal regulations
governing securities trading. If a shareholder has more than 10 lots of shares after receiving such instructions, he will not be able to sell them in Odd Lot. According to Nepse, such transactions cannot be marketed through the TMS system.
