Health camps and public awareness activities are being conducted in Upper Mustang

Kathmandu, May 8

Residents of the Upper Mustang who did not have easy access to contemporary healthcare
were given free health care through the Sowarigpa treatment technique.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Sowa Rigpa Association of Nepal collaborated on a
three-week free health camp in the villages of Lo-Ghekar Damodarkund and Lomanthang.

In Lomanthang hamlet, a three-week free health camp was held, during which about 1,750
individuals were examined and free medicines were supplied. Eleven doctors and nurses from Sowa Rigpa attended the program.

According to Dr. (Amchi) Tenzing Dharke Gurung, President of the Association, an awareness campaign was held in each ward of both villages with the goal of promoting native herbs while maintaining the ecosystem and biodiversity. Local-level leaders, mother group officials, village chiefs, school instructors, and kids, according to him, attended the program.

For several years, the organization has held similar health camps and public awareness
activities every year. According to Gandaki MP Indradhar Bista, precious plants located in the high alpine region are increasingly disappearing due to climate change’s effects.

According to Gandaki MP Indradhar Bisht, an environmental awareness program should be implemented.

On the occasion, Raju Bista, the current chairman of the Lo-Ghekar Damodarkund village
municipality, and Suvarna Kumar Bista, the chairman of the Lomanthang village municipality, spoke.
