Clarification sought from govt employees for violating election code of conduct

Kathmandu, May 4

The Office of the Chief Returning Officer in Hetauda has sought a 24-hour clarification from
some government employees for taking part in election campaigns of political parties, violating the election code of conduct.

Assistant Election Officer Sagar Sharma said government officials from different offices have been asked to submit clarifications within 24 hours based on complaints against their
participation in election rallies.

Once the response is received from those officials, they will be recommended to the District
Election Monitoring Committee for necessary action.

Likewise, a decision has been made to bar those officials from being deployed in the election process.

EC officials said the response has also been sought from government officials for publicizing the political parties’ campaign through social media including Facebook.
