47 climbers reach base camp to scale Mt Kanchenjunga

Kathmandu, April 27

As many as 47 climbers have reached the base camp as a part of their attempt to scale the
Kanchenjunga Mountain.

This is the first time this year that such a huge number of climbers have reached the base camp.

The climbers reached the Kanchenjunga base camp through southern and northern trekking routes.

Tourism Assistant of Kanchanjunga Conservation Area Management Council Tapethok check
post, Kalpana Tammaden informed that 36 mountaineers have reached the base camp through the southern trekking route.

She shared that those reaching the base camp include five nationals from India, one from the US, three from Germany, two from Romania, three from Australia, three from the Netherlands, and two others from Canada.

Some climbers, who reached the base camp last week, are making preparations for the
Kanchenjunga expedition, she shared.

Likewise, six Romanians and five British nationals reached the base camp through the northern trekking route, shared tourism assistant of Yamfudin check post Surya Man Rai.

As many as 67 climbers have taken permission for Kanchenjunga mountaineering. The flow of climbers coming to the base camp is on the rise.

Tourist mobility has gradually increased in the Kanchanjunga area, said hotel entrepreneur of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-6, Ghumsa, Pema Sherpa. “A large number of expedition teams are coming to the base camp for mountaineering this time,” he added.
