Hou Yanqi, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, said the two nations should have a serious
debate about the economic elements of the Nepal-China railway. Ambassador Yanqi, speaking at a news conference hosted by the Chinese embassy on Thursday, stated that following a full feasibility analysis of the railway, it will be known when construction would begin and end.
Because of the Himalayan area, she claimed she couldn’t estimate when it would be difficult to build a railway from Kerung in Tibet to Kathmandu. She expressed her confidence in the progress of the Kerung-Kathmandu railway building. Discussions on the advancement of the Nepal-China railway were held during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent visit to Nepal.
To move this project ahead, the job of generating a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not yet begun.
