Government to Look into Oxygen Plant Explosion

Kathmandu, April 21

Dilendra Prasad Badu, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, has stated that the
government will compensate the relatives of the victims of the gas plant explosion in Patan
Industrial Area, as well as offer free medical care to the injured. He further stated that the
event will be investigated by a government committee comprised of technicians.

On Thursday morning, an explosion at the Everest Oxygen Plant killed one person. The incident resulted in the injuries of five people. Minister Badu arrived on the scene shortly after the event and assessed the situation. He called the situation ”unfortunate and terrible,” adding that such incidents were uncommon.

”The event occurred for technical reasons. In most cases, this is not the case. Following the on-site monitoring, Minister Badu stated, ”We are investigating the event from a technical standpoint.” He stated that the relatives of the deceased would be compensated and that provisions would be made for the treatment of the injured.
