A meteor shower can be observed in the Nepali sky on the night of April 22 if the active
weather is present, according to the Nepal Astronomical Society.

Suresh Bhattarai, the society’s chairman, announced that the Veena Meteor Shower (Lyrid Meteor Shower) will be visible from now till April 25. On April 22, meteor showers can be visible from 9 p.m. till sunrise, according to him.

During periods of strong activity, 15-20 meteors per hour can be observed falling. The dust
particles released by the comet Thatcher are destroyed by friction and burning in the Earth’s atmosphere, resulting in this meteor shower. It takes 415 years for the Thatcher comet to complete one circuit around the Sun.

As a comet or comets orbit the sun, dust particles are released into its orbit. Which has the
potential to expand over millions of kilometers. The sun is orbited by the dust particles that
have been distributed in this manner. When these dust particles collide with the Earth’s atmosphere throughout their orbit, meteors form. A meteor shower occurs when 10 or more meteors are visible in such a scenario.
