Kathmandu, April 15
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand said the government is positive to address the demands put forth by the Janamat Party.
During his meeting with the CK Raut-led Janamat Party at his office today, Home Minister
Khand assured that the government would take necessary initiatives to withdraw party-related cases as per the existing law as agreed with the previous government.
Minister Khand said that the move of the Janamat Party to come to the mainstream of politics and to get registered at the Election Commission (EC) to participate in the upcoming elections is a welcome decision. The government had earlier urged the EC to allocate election symbols to all parties applying for the same and the EC had decided accordingly.
The party leaders apprised Minister Khand that the party is registered at the EC because of the upcoming local level elections and demanded the government implement the agreements reached between the party and the erstwhile government. The party also requested the government to release party cadres and leaders arrested in the course of its ‘agriculture movement’ and address the demands raised by them.
Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, Attorney General Khamma Bahadur Khati, Joint Secretary Phanidramani Pokharel, Janamat Party Chairman Raut, Vice Chairman trios Basanta Kushawah, Deepak Sah, Narendra Sah, and General Secretary Chandan Singh were present at the meeting.
