Umesh Kumar Thani, the Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation, has been nominated to the Congress’ Local Level Election Central Campaign Committee.

Dr. Thani, the spokesman for the Nepali Congress, has been assigned to the committee chaired by Prakash Sharan Mahat. Sher Bahadur Deuba, the party’s president and prime minister, resolved to organize and designate a ”local level election central campaign committee” during a meeting of the Congress Central Committee on March 29. On April 1, the Congress Central Office made the information public.

According to Keshav Rijal, information officer of the Nepali Congress central office, Thani’s name is on the committee as an ex-officio member. ”Thani’s name was seen here, but just the organization’s name should have been there,” Rijal explained.

Rijal said that the Congress had selected Thani as chairman of the Center for Democratic
Engineers Nepal, but that as he is the organization’s leader, Rijal said he would fix the mistake.

Thani is appointed to the 61st Publicity Committee as an ex-officio member. He is now in India with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
