Kathmandu, April 3
The ‘Balance Nail’ joint training between the Nepal Army and the US Army begins today. As part of a typical operation and practice, a ‘balance nail’ is being drawn between the Army’s Ranger Army and the US Army’s Special Forces.
According to Narayan Silwal, a spokesman for the Nepal Army, a combined exercise between the US military and the Nepal Army has been ongoing since August 2003. There have been 39 Balance Nail exercises done so far. According to him, around 4,000 Ranger Army personnel have received such training.
”This time the balancing nail will be operated from April 3 to April 26 at the Ranger Battalion’s Singh Mahabir Planning and Coordination Division Camp and Ranger Training Center Nagarkot,” spokesperson Silwal stated in response to an inquiry from the RSS. The training will be attended by 20 US soldiers and 90 Nepalese soldiers.
Practical exercises and expertise on human rights and law enforcement during the conflict,
woodland warfare, and military tactics will also be provided during the course. The Nepal
Army’s capabilities would be strengthened as a result of this training.
The training will take place in the field, at a table, and in the classroom, with the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense coordinating and approving it. The US has been
conducting joint exercises with a variety of countries all around the world. A combined training session between the US Army and Nepal Army medical staff was held two years ago.
