Chobhar Dryport, the valley’s first dry port, has received LC approval. Banks and financial institutions that have recently finished construction and received government approval to operate the port will now be authorized to issue Letters of Credit (LCs) for commercial customs clearing of goods.
The NRB issued such an order on Tuesday, amending Unified Circular-2078, which was given to the licensing body for foreign exchange operations. The bank has indicated in a letter of credit provided for foreign commerce that the dry port of Chobhar can now be given as per the current arrangement.
If the importer requests it from Mechi, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Dry Port Sirsia, and Bhairahawa
Customs, the bank has specified that the customs point can be changed in the name of Chobhar Dry Port Customs Office as per the current arrangement.
