National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that the people’s representatives
should be actively dedicated to humanitarian development.
Inaugurating the interaction program on health risk communication and community
participation organized by the Ministry of Health and Population here today, he called on the people’s representatives to be aware of the people about health, education, and ways of reducing the child and maternal mortality rate as they have come. with the motive of public service.
Chairman Timilsina recalled that Nepal has won accolades in the world for the effective works it carried out in the prevention, control, and vaccination regarding COVID-19. He shared that although the risk of COVID-19 has been reduced in the present situation, there is much to be done in terms of protecting people’s health.
The Chairman of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament urged the people’s representatives to launch a public awareness campaign for bringing change in the eating habits and lifestyle of the people for a healthy life.
In the context of the upcoming local level elections slated for May 13 this year, he urged the political parties to select candidates to vie in the election based on their capacity.
Province no 1 Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari called on the people’s representatives to play the role of facilitators for reducing the public health risks.
Province no 1 government’s Health Minister Jayaram Yadav expressed the belief that the
complete vaccination program would be successful in the province with the active participation of all.
WHO Nepal Chief Dr. Rajesh Samvajirao Pandava stressed the need of using new technology for the prevention and control of disaster, saying that two-thirds of the citizens were suffering from pulmonary and heart diseases or had hypertension and therefore at risk of stroke.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra
shared that there were 105 laboratories in the country for testing COVID-19 while 39 million 716 thousand 798 persons have been vaccinated against this virus.
The objective of the program is to activate the response plan during the time of pandemic
through risk communication and community participation for the prevention and control of
public health disasters and pandemic.
The Ministry of Health and Population, the province government’s health ministry, members of the Province Assembly, WHO representatives, and physicians had participated in the
interaction.
