Kathmandu, March 28
About 20,000 landless persons in village blocks have been issued land ownership registration certificates since Minister for Land, Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Reduction Shashi Shrestha took over the ministry.
Ward No. 1 of the Kohalpur Municipality. Minister Shrestha handed out a land ownership
certificate to 96 homes in the village block of 3 today, which shows that despite not being a
priority this year, she has made the distribution of lalpurja in the village block a priority since taking over the ministry.
Minister Shrestha said that around 19,600 landless persons in village blocks received land
ownership certificates over the span of 4 months.
She urged local level people’s representatives and staff to be honest in their work for the people, stating that the current administration has given high importance to the
implementation of citizens’ rights under the constitution.
Minister Shrestha had previously distributed land ownership certificates to landless people in Mahottari’s Ramgopalpur, Saptari, Dhanusha, Sunsari, Chitwan Ichchakamana village municipality, Kathmandu’s Kirtipur municipality, Bhaktapur’s Madhyapur Thimi municipality, Tanahu’s Bandipur, and Chitwan’s Bharatpur metropolitan municipality.
