Selling 44,000 ropanis of land is recommended

Kathmandu, March 25

It has been determined to suggest to the Council of Ministers that 44,000 ropanis of land be released out of a total of one lakh ropanis for the development of the new town in Kathmandu Valley that has been declared.

The Physical Development Committee, led by Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jhakri, resolved on Thursday to recommend to the Council of Ministers the sale of 44,000 ropanis of land in five Kathmandu and Bhaktapur municipalities.

The committee has left the land allotment unchanged, according to the Secretariat of the
Urban Development Minister, since a new town may be created on 56,000 ropanis out of one lakh ropanis.

The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority has suggested that the Kageshwari Manohara Municipality and Shankharapur Municipality in Kathmandu District, Bhaktapur Municipality in Bhaktapur District, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, and Changunarayan Municipality in Bhaktapur District, and Bhaktapur Municipality in Bhaktapur District approve new town development plans.

The NEA has already completed a detailed project report (DPR) for the new town that will be built in five municipalities.
